If your content plan still reads like a list of 2023 predictions, the useful update is not another list of fashionable tools. It is a clearer decision about what information your customers need and how they now encounter it.

This article updates Graby’s earlier 2023 trends guide while retaining its original URL. The priorities below reflect current documentation checked on October 26, 2026; they are practical editorial judgements, not forecasts of guaranteed growth.

AI-assisted discovery makes clear explanations more valuable

People may encounter an answer in search, an assistant or a platform summary before reaching the original page. Make important explanations understandable, sourced and easy to identify. Give the reader a reason to visit for the fuller comparison, example or tool.

Google’s guidance for generative AI search features emphasises valuable content and technical accessibility. It does not establish a special recipe that guarantees citations in Google or other assistants. Treat claims about guaranteed “GEO rankings” cautiously.

Original detail is a stronger editorial investment than more generic output

AI makes routine drafting easier. That increases the importance of what the business contributes: a useful calculation, a carefully explained tradeoff, an accurate process or a verified example.

Use AI to organise work, then check sources, factual additions and the actual usefulness of the answer. Google’s people-first guidance is a useful quality reference. Do not manufacture first-hand experience to make a piece sound more authoritative.

Video should answer something worth showing

Short demonstrations can support discovery, while longer explanations can support evaluation and aftercare. Choose the length and format for the question. “Make more short video” is incomplete advice without a production and distribution plan.

Check rights and platform disclosure rules. YouTube’s synthetic-content guidance matters when realistic media is meaningfully altered or generated. A production tool does not remove accountability for what the viewer is led to believe.

Distribution deserves planning alongside production

A useful page can support a proposal, a permission-based newsletter, a customer response and a short social explanation. Adapt the asset to the context instead of publishing identical excerpts everywhere.

Platform tools such as TikTok’s Creative Center can reveal formats and examples. They cannot tell you which idea serves your particular customer or whether the production effort will pay back.

Review old recommendations rather than carrying them forward

The previous guide highlighted voice search, augmented reality and broad personalisation. Those approaches can suit particular tasks, but none belongs in every small-business plan. Evaluate the customer need, maintenance cost, privacy implications and evidence before committing.

A simple comparison page may be more useful than an interactive experience if the customer mainly needs to understand scope and price. Interaction is valuable when it helps the decision.

Measure decisions and economics

Track suitable enquiries, content used during sales and contribution where reasonably measurable. Explain attribution limits. Traffic remains useful context, but a rise in visits does not establish that the programme created profitable demand.

Choose one meaningful improvement to an existing asset before expanding the publishing calendar. Our content brief guide provides the workflow, and Content Marketing 101 helps assess whether the programme fits the business.
